The Prince

Unlike most of my other portraits, I only spent two sessions working on this one. Approximately one fourth of that time was spent working on the left eye, which I erased and redrew seven times.
My usual technique of shading in the eye socket before drawing the eye didn't seem to be working for this piece -- I had to break out of my habits and draw the eye first, then shade it in.
The right eye was interesting to draw as the light on this model's face was so intense that half of his face was in a dark shadow. As a result, it was difficult to capture any detail on that side of his face.
