Self Portrait in Charcoal

PictureCharcoal on Moonstone, 20"x 13", October 2019. Drawn from life.
This portrait was hard to draw because the subject was not still and was literally not in front of me. I had look at myself in the mirror, then draw, and then go back for another look. I am particularly proud that I resisted over-working the left eye. I also learned that how we perceive the nose is largely an optical illusion -- what is dark is actually the ridge of the nose and not one side over the other.
